Introduction to Web Development

The internet is constantly evolving, being used for more and more of our daily life. It is a primary source of news and information, a way to connect with others through social media, and a portal for online applications that assist us with daily tasks such as banking, word processing, medical services, or shopping. Learning the language of the web is learning the language of the future.

This is an 8-week course that teaches the fundamentals of web development. This introductory course is great for those interested in learning more about becoming a web developer or designer, building web pages for others to view and use. It also is a good introduction to coding in general, teaching principles of problem solving, logical thinking, and programming language fundamentals.

What you will learn in this course:

  • The language of the web: HTML, CSS, and beginning JavaScript

  • GitHub and git for source version control and online hosting

  • Principles of UX/UI design

  • Command line interface (CLI) skills

  • Browser dev tools for testing and debugging

By the time the course is done, you will have built:

  • A personal bio web page

  • An online resume

  • A multi-page, professional portfolio website
