2023 - A Year in Reflection
If you had asked us 12 months ago where GLAD would be, we could not have imagined all that we would accomplish or the lives we would get to impact.

A Day in the Life
Check out this short video clip that captures some of the magic of a day in the life of our Kenyan students.
Our Kenya Adventure Begins
Kenya's sights offer a refreshing escape from bustling Sacramento. Here, Ben is leading GLAD Kenya's 10-week web development bootcamp for 16 young adults. It's hard to capture the beauty of this place and what that means for a learning environment.
Joyfully Overwhelmed
In the span of just a few weeks, we have had over two hundred applicants for our Kenyan coding bootcamp.
GLAD in Kenya!
GLAD Technology will be hosting a 10-week coding bootcamp in rural Kenya this summer! We will be reaching Kenyan young adults who are caught in the vicious cycle of poverty, giving them education and skills to change the course of their career.
Upcoming Courses at GLAD Technology
GLAD is offering two new upcoming courses in the coming months. Registration is now open and volunteers are needed!
Summer Interns at the GreenHouse
This summer, GLAD partnered with the GreenHouse Center in South Natomas to create a web development internship program for high school students. With a real world project tied to their learning, students rose to the challenge to design and implement a beautiful and professional web site.
GLAD’s First Coding Course!
This last week GLAD finished its first 10-week “Introduction to Web Development” course. Students learned the foundations for coding and web design: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. And by the course end, each of them had designed and published their own personal portfolio site to showcase their new skills. A job well done!
Partnering with Refcode
There’s no better way to learn how to run a non-profit coding bootcamp than participating with one already in action. In March, Ben flew out to Atlanta, Georgia, to volunteer with Refcode - helping with student intake, curriculum development, tutoring, and volunteer support.
