Upcoming Courses at GLAD Technology

GLAD is offering two new courses in the months ahead!

“Careers in Web Development” is a single-day workshop that introduces students to the multi-faceted field of web technologies: UI/UX design, full stack web app development, data analytics, database administration, DevOps engineering, etc. Students will learn about these career paths as well as ways to direct their learning with a technology career in mind. They will also learn the basics of HTML and CSS and will create a basic web page.

“Introduction to Web Development” is an 8-week course that teaches the foundations of web development: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Students will build several projects, including an online resume and a professional portfolio website, hosted on their personal GitHub account. This course serves as a prerequisite for the intensive 3-month bootcamp, which trains job-ready skills and certifies participants as ready to enter the industry as a junior level web/software developer.

For those interested in volunteering, we have several needs:

• In-class teaching aides, helping students with their learning and projects.

• Community hosts, providing meals for each class and helping build relationship during our time together.

• Slack channel moderators, assisting students asynchronously with questions about homework and assignments.
